The Workshop Programme

Mothers attend the workshop with their toddlers once a week for two hours. Morning and afternoon workshops are available each day of the week with separate sessions for tiny tots and older toddlers. The programmes are designed to be appropriate to the age of the toddlers within the group and are limited to 12 mothers and toddlers per session.
The Tiny Tots programme caters especially for the little ones in the 12 to 18 month age group, allowing for their shorter attention span. There are more hands-on activities and “action play”, but these are of shorter duration. The emphasis is on gross motor co-ordination.

What happens in the Workshop?
  • The first half hour is taken up by the toddlers playing with an extensive variety of educational toys.
  • The next 15 minutes is dedicated to Messy Play activities and gross motor activities.
  • Then comes 45 minutes of ring time including singing action songs, playing musical instruments, learning about the different parts of the body, learning about a different colour or number.
  • Thereafter, it is story time followed by an activity based on the story.
  • In the final session the children are taken outside, where they can climb, play on the swings and in the sandpit, ride push bicycles and play with outdoor toys.
  • Children receive nutritious snacks and this is the time for the mothers to socialise over a cup of tea or coffee and to share in the pleasures and anxieties of child-rearing!
What Makes the Workshop Unique?
  • Mother and child education.
  • Moms and Tots Workshop curricula developed by leading child psychologists and teachers
  • Highly qualified Workshop Leaders (teachers, child psychologists and social workers form the bulk of the MTW network).
  • A comprehensive fine and gross-motor combination programme.
  • All Workshop Leaders have completed an extensive training course offered by Moms and Tots.
  • Workshop Sessions are limited to twelve toddlers. This enables small teaching groups and enhances interaction.
  • Curricula supplied to all workshops to ensure consistent level of education throughout the different areas and countries.
  • Regular assessments conducted on Workshop leaders.
  • Continuous development and updating of the programme.

The workshops are designed to create a stress free environment which encourages the toddlers to learn and grow at an accelerated pace
